Description
Maisa Tisdale, President/CEO of The Mary & Eliza Freeman Center for History and Community founded the Center in 2009 after coordinating a successful movement to save the Freeman Houses from demolition. She has worked to create a safer and healthier “built” environment in Bridgeport’s South End – focusing on historic preservation, community development, and climate change. The Freeman Center owns the Freeman Houses (circa 1848), last original structures of Little Liberia (circa 1821). It is creating an African American historic site: museum, education center, housing.
