Curator's Colleague Circle at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center
Wednesday, October 12, 2016, 10-noon
Have you ever dreamed about state-of-the-art collection storage areas? Would you like to be inspired by the sight of clean, clear, organized shelves of boxed collections and open storage? Are there items in your collection that you worry are too valuable to be stored at your site due to imperfect or unsuitable collections storage areas? Does a behind-the-scenes tour of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center's collections storage areas and labs sound like an amazing way to spend a morning?
If the answer is "yes", then you won't want to miss this gathering of the Curator's Colleague Circle for a behind-the-scenes introduction to collections storage and behind-the-scenes work areas at the MPMRC. We'll start the morning with a tour of the facilities, then settle for a group discussion about - you guessed it - collections storage! This is your chance to discuss issues with your colleagues, network and learn. You'll also hear about the museums' brand-new collections storage space rental program and have an opportunity to give feedback about the kinds of services and/or training you need.
This is a free program, and participants may stay afterwards to visit the museum, or enjoy lunch in the museum café. Pre-registration in necessary, and spaces are limited, so reserve your spot early.
