Curators' Colleague Circle: Affordable Exhibitions

*Note: Registration for this event is closed as we have reached capacity.

Planning and implementing exhibits is time-consuming and can become expensive, but it doesn’t have to be difficult or break the bank!

Join your colleagues for a hands-on program to discuss the ins and outs of making affordable museum exhibits.  Tour Litchfield Historical Society’s newest shows, including By the Virtue of its Citizens: Educating a New Nation at Sarah Pierce’s Academy, then settle in to discuss everything from materials to mounts, with a specific focus on techniques that are easy, attractive, and affordable.  This will be a hands-on session to try out materials and techniques, and we encourage participants to share their own best tips and tricks with the group.  Don’t be shy--feel free to bring samples and do a “demo.”

Even after the labels are written, every exhibit still needs to be designed and installed in a way that is safe for the objects and engaging for the visitors.

Has your institution used any materials or techniques that made the exhibit process easier? Do you have any tips for making design and installation a breeze? Do you want to try out exhibit materials and installation techniques, or have something you want to demonstrate to the group?

Colleague Circles are informal get-togethers to network with others with similar interests, and share knowledge.  Colleague Circles are open to all interested CLHO members, no matter what your role or job title is!
