With an important legislative session coming up in the new year, now is the time to reach out to your elected leaders and let them know the economic, educational, and social impact your organization has in your community. The American Alliance of Museums' Invite Congress to Visit Your Museum (August 12–16) is a field-wide initiative that empowers museums of all types and sizes to invite their federal, state, and local legislators and stakeholders to see firsthand the power of their work. We're collaborating with AAM and our state and regional partners to help you get energized and started.

We'll have with us:

  • Barry Szczesny, Director of Government Relations and Public Policy at the American Alliance of Museums, who will share information about Invite Congress, offer resources to get you started, and give an overview of AAM's federal legislative priorities this year
  • Jason Mancini, Executive Director of Connecticut Humanities, who will give a preview on plans for the 2025 legislative session, and encourage participants to share their economic, educational, and social impact with their legislators and the Governor’s office
  • Jennifer Wilson, Director of Programming and Advocacy at the New England Museum Association, who will give us a sense of what's happening across the region, provide advocacy tips and resources, and preview some of the advocacy opportunities at NEMA's conference in November
