Description
Launched in 2001 by artist Ellen Griesedieck, the American Mural Project (AMP) serves a broad regional and national community, offering exhibits, education programs, and live events for people of all ages and walks of life. At the heart of AMP is the largest indoor collaborative artwork in the world—a mural 120 feet long, 48 feet high, and up to ten feet deep. The mural is a tribute to American workers—and to work itself—portraying diverse workers on a grand scale, signifying the profound impact that everyday individuals have on our society and culture. In many ways, the mural encapsulates AMP's core mission, which is to elevate the art of work. Its objectives are to: Celebrate ingenuity, productivity, and commitment to work. Inspire, educate, and invite collaboration among people of all ages. Reveal the meaningful contributions each of us can make to American culture.
